While the Miss Buffalo Chip pageant continued on a stage behind him, Sam drowned his sorrows on his fifth beer. "The boys" of the group were whistling and howling like animals at the display of babes in bikinis. Sam was so bored he could sleep where he sat.

Checking his watch, wondering where Dev was, Sam decided on finishing his beer and heading back to the tents to have a look for him. He missed him so badly he needed to see him again. Imagining the rest of the tour without him was making Sam feel ill.

"You going?" Ralph asked. "They haven't even chosen a winner yet."

"I'm beat. I need a walk to wake up. You can fill me in on what I missed later."

"Okay."

Sam avoided the odd stares from the men who thought there was no better entertainment in the state than what they were watching at the moment.

Making his way out of the Black Parrot bar, Sam felt jostled by the crowd and imagined Dev waiting eagerly for him at their cozy spot and catching up on what they had done separately. At least Sam hoped he'd be there and in an amiable mood. Remembering Dev carried his mobile phone, Sam checked his pockets and regretted leaving his in his bike's locked saddlebag. They had to work this out. Somehow come to a compromise. Sam felt he had already, meeting with Dev in the night, but obviously that wasn't enough for the bold and self-righteous Devlin Young.

"Another shot, and a beer chaser, please?" Dev asked the bartender. Drunk, pissed off, wishing Sam was with him, Dev thanked the bartender and handed him cash. Sniffing the strong whiskey, Dev tossed it down his throat and shivered at the potency. After setting down his shot glass, he gulped the cold beer to rid the foul aftertaste of the liquor.

"Buy a gal a drink, sailor?"

Dev moved his drunken gaze to a young woman in a Harley T-shirt standing next to him. "No thanks."

Though it seemed she was about to make a snide

comment, he was surprised when instead she just walked

away.

A moment later, a male voice whispered behind him,

"Where's your boyfriend?"

Rubbing his face in agony, Dev moaned, "Leave me alone." "He break up with you?" Tony teased.

"I said, leave me alone."

"Drowning your sorrows? Can't find someone else to suck

your gay cock?"

Dev spun around and glared at him. "Go away!" Making a clicking sound with his tongue, Tony pouted his

lip out in exaggeration. "Poor fag, drinking all alone. The

pariah of the group."

Stumbling off the bar stool, Dev grabbed Tony by his shirt.

"Why are you always on me? Huh?"

Tony shrugged off Dev's grasp. "Don't touch me, faggot." Dev shoved Tony back towards the exit. "What'd I ever do

to you?"

"Watch it, Dev!" Tony snarled in warning.

"No! You watch it!" Dev forced him outside the bar and

into a flow of pedestrians.

"Stop pushing me!" Tony shoved him back.

Regaining his balance Dev gripped Tony in a headlock and

dragged him off the main drag behind the bar where the

dumpsters and trashcans were hidden.
